Key identification features

A small fox with very large black-tipped ears, a silvery body, and a very bushy, black tipped tail. HB 60-70 cm. Wt 2.5-4.5 kg.

Habitat and social behaviour

Found in pairs or in small family groups. Habitat is open savannas.

Similar species

Considerably smaller than all three jackal species.
