Abyssinian black and white colobus

Key identification features

A large monkey with a mostly black body with long fur. It has a long white mantle extending from the rump to the shoulders, a white face and chin, and a bushy white-tipped tail. HB 50-65 cm. Tail 65-85 cm. Wt 10-18 kg.

Habitat and social behaviour

A social species found in groups of 10 or more individuals. Diurnal and predominantly arboreal, found mostly in forest canopy in highland forests.

Similar species

The Angolan black and white colobus has shorter fur and lacks a white mantle across its back.
