Key identification features
A medium sized brown cat with big ears and long, dark ear tassels. HB 65-90 cm. T 20-35 cm. Wt 8-17 kg.
Habitat and social behaviour
Solitary and crepuscular or nocturnal. Found in savanna, bushland and open woodland.
Similar species
Similar and size and shape to a Serval, though lacks spots and its ear tassels are distinctive. Often adopts a low stance when seen and trying to escape unlike serval which run or bound away.
