Key identification features

Very large, grey, with two horns on the front of its head. HB 350 cm. Wt up to 1500 kg.

Habitat and social behaviour

Formerly found in savannas and bushland across the country. Now restricted to isolated or well protected areas, following massive poaching for rhino horn in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
