Key identification features
A mid-sized monkey with a long tail. It has a white nose and puffy white cheek whiskers, a reddish-green back and a bright red tail. HB 34-60 cm. Tail 55 – 90 cm. Wt 2-6 kg.
Habitat and social behaviour
Generally found in small family groups of 5-15 individuals. In Tanzania only found in the very west of the country where it is associated with Congolese biome forests.
Similar species
The blue monkey is a similar size, but lack the conspicuous red tail and white nose.
