The Species check-list

The species check-list includes all the wild mammals’ species excluding rodents, bats, insectivores and marine mammals and is designed to provide basic presence/absence information. This kind of information will allow us to map the distribution of mammals across the country and to monitor species for range contractions or expansions. We are asking for the sightings within grid squares that are a quarter square degree of latitude/longitude, an area of roughly 50 km 2.
Please use a new sheet for each year and for each different grid square. You can either find your grid square location on the website map (the grid square numbers pop up as you pass your cursor over the map), or by using a regular topographic map of Tanzania. We provide instructions on how to identify your grid location. Please don’t forget to fill in your grid square and contact details on the check-list and send it to us at the address below.
